Beyond Measure

There are times when I come across a photo that takes me away. An Image powerful enough to shorten a breath and shock all senses. Photos are a flash in the moments of infinite possibility we live out everyday, yet some can see a certain unique space. They watch the culmination of every essential element for a photo,that they can by no means truly process or understand, align in such a way that it's hard for me to imagine having the aptitude to take a shot during a scene so arresting and aesthetically engaging. The taking of a photo becomes more than paper, and film or data points, an intangible flux of emotion and inspiration is the result of a photo of the nature in which I am referring to.

Eve Arnold, a globe-trotting photojournalist who captured iconic images of Marilyn Monroe, has died, the Magnum photo agency said Thursday. She was 99.
Born in Philadelphia in 1912 to Russian immigrant parents, Arnold began working as a photographer in the 1940s and took pictures for Life magazine during a golden age of magazine photojournalism.
Her subjects included New York bartenders, Cuban fishermen and Afghan nomads; celebrities such as Joan Crawford and Elizabeth Taylor; and political figures including Jacqueline Kennedy, Malcolm X and Margaret Thatcher.
